G.V.Prabhakar, a professional singer, AIR and Doordarshan graded artiste and music director, began singing at the age of 13. His first gurus were Smt. Kamalamma Bharavabhatla and Sri Prabhakara Krishnamurthy Sastry in Machilipatnam. He later refined his style and proficiency with influence and guidance of stalwarts Sri Voleti Venkateshwarlu and Dr.M. Balamurali Krishna.

G.V.Prabhakar has been giving concerts in All India Radio and TV since 1980 and performed more than 1000 public concerts all over India. In a career spanning over four decades, has established a reputation as one of the well-known artistes across the country. He has toured extensively across abroad including USA, UAE, Canada, Singapore, Kuwait and presented several Classical, Light Music, Devotional concerts. He conducted Sahasra Gala Archana in connection with Srimad Bhagavad Ramanuja Sahasrabhdhi Utsava Celebrations with 1600 singers in Dallas (USA) in the presence of Sri Sri Sri Tridandi China Jeeyar Swami. In 2007, he toured across USA for Ghantasala Aaradhanotsavams Fund Raiser event by Vegesna Foundation in the aid of supporting differently abled children.

He has recently conceptualized RAAGAVADHANAM which is a unique event in music field showcasing spontaneous musical improvisations and extempore melody creations by Avadhani in response to impromptu questions on raagas, songs and other music topics. As a ‘Raaga’Avadhaani, G.V.Prabhakar has successfully completed this first of its kind show in USA, Singapore and India including virtual events in 2020 and 2021. 

G.V.Prabhakar established S.S. Music Academy in 1997, to promote Indian culture and arts amongst youth and children across the world. He composed many devotional albums and Yakshganas in Kuchipudi style. Arogya Sudha, compilations of selected Sanskrit slokas with blessings of H.H. Sri Kanchi Kama Koti Sankaracharya, biography of H.H.Sri. Ganapathi Sachinanda Swamy “Sri Geetha Sachidaanandamam” Durgambika Gita Maalika are some of his music creations. He composes

Annamacharya and Ramadasa Keerthanas. He also conducts virtual workshops and trainings regularly for students across the world. In 2017, Sri Prabhakar was awarded with the Ugadi Puraskar from Government of Andhra Pradesh. Other awards include the prestigious Pandit Ravi Shankar Award by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam,Ghantasala Puraskar by Ghantasala International Foundation,Sangeeta Vidwan Vishista Puraskaram and Gana Vidya Praveen Title at Kuwait Telugu Association Kalanjali in 2006. In addition to managing his music academy, training many NRI students online, concerts and composing assignments, G.V. Prabhakar also serves as official music director for various religious missions.
